Fabric dyeing process in textile industry;
Fabric Dyeing process in textile is a process in which color is transferred to a finish textile or textile material (like fabric and yarns) to add permanent and long-lasting color.
dyes can come as powders and liquid dispersion and they dissolve completely in water.
when the textile and dye come into contact, the textile is completely saturated by the dye and colored.
But you know that what is the difference between paint and dye?
paint is a complex substance and when you use it, you’re usually coating the surface of something. unlike paint.
dyes actually change the crystal structure of substances. But what you really need to understand is that dyes are more saturating and more permanent.
this is important because you want the fabric color to last through many wearing and washings. most dyed textile material is used to make clothing.
Different types of dyes is used for fabric dyeing;
Here, we discuss some different types of dyes, you should know that there are many different types of dyes and we’re only going to discuss a few of them.
1. Natural dyes
Natural dyes come from sources like plants, minerals and animals.
they have a long history but aren’t used much more commercials textile anymore. you will find artists and craftspeople using them for hand-made product and for traditional crafts
2. Synthetic dyes
Dyes, made in a laboratory, are chemicals often derived from sources like coal tar or petroleum-based substances.
3. Basic dyes
Basic dye are dissolved in water and requires, a chemical that forms a bond with the dye to make it insoluble, which means the color stays on the textile when it’s rinsed following dyeing. this process tends to be used with fabric like nylon, and polyester.
4. Vat dyes
Made of material like indigo, a plant that provides a deep blue color and
is one of the oldest natural dyes. used in vat dyes must be first treated with
a liquid alkaline substance (something that reduced acid) to allow them to
be used as a dye.
5. Direct dyes
on the other hand, don’t require a mordant and they are used
to dye natural fibers, like wool, cotton and silk.
Methods of fabric dyeing process
There are many ways to dye textile materials in textile industry. in most dyeing processes, water is used with the dye and other additives
to affix color stays.
A dye may also be pressed into a fabric through a thick paste, or the textile material may be immersed into a days vat or tub.
sometimes dyeing textiles requires high temperature and some synthetics
like polyester dye more easily at temperatures above 100 degrees.
But why there are so many different kinds of dyes and ways to use them? because
no kind of dye effectively color all natural and synthetic textiles. Different dyes and dyeing processes work best on different materials.
fabric dyeing process/ cotton fabric dyeing process flow chart
Fabric Dyeing process for different textile materials could be different but its basic idea is same for all. and all types of dyeing pre-treatment is must for removing unwanted yarns from textile materials.
Pre-treatment style differs for the shade of dyed materials. shade may be light or deep.
Also these pre- treatment depend upon requirement. After pre- treatment
textile materials are ready for dyeing.
After dyeing, dyed materials are finished in finishing department. After finishing that’s products become ready to use. this sequence can be expressed by a flow chart.
Basic flow chart of fabric dyeing in textile, (cotton fabric dyeing process flow chart);
singeing is the first step of pre-treatment.
the process by which loss, hairy and projecting
fiber are removed from surface of fabric is called singeing.
desizing is the second steps of pre- treatment.
by this process gummy materials are removed.
Also size materials removed by this process.
scouring is the third steps of pre-treatment.
this process is performed for removing impurities of the textile materials.
Bleaching is another important step which is used to reduced
natural color of the raw materials. dyeing performance depends
on it much more.
mercerizing is the spacial type of treatment. it performs if buyer wants.
it is an additional treatment. it increases the strength and luster of the
Dyeing is the main process where a white material becomes colour by different colors or different shade. It is depand upon quality of dyes and quality of textile materials. If dye quality is better than it is easy to fixed colour on to the materials and it is also easy to improve depth of shade of the materials.
printing is called as localized dyeing. different tyeps of textile printing are done for giving specials appearance on colored or white fabric.
Finishing is the last treatment of wet processing. Finishing is also required or important for dyed textile materials.
Different types of properties can be added to the textile materials by different finishing effects.
marketing is our main goal. if we done everything but there have no buyer then everything is wast. so we should have a strong marketing department.
so, all of this about flow chart of dyeing.
