Why would basic dyes be more effective under alkaline conditions?
Basic dyes having positive charge and can be dyed under acidic pH. Under alkaline pH the pick up will be poor and colour will fed after dyeing.
basic dyes is gives better results at acidic pH as compare with alkaline pH. If basic dye is carry out under alkaline pH. then, Under alkaline pH speed of pick up or growth of pick up is going down, as a results colour will fed after dyeing.
Conclusion –
If basic dyeing is carry out at acidic pH then it gives even dyeing but if you take alkaline pH then dyeing pic up is poor and colour will fed after dyeing. as a result uneven dyeing will occur.
